| 2009 |
The Meadows Marathon had it's more successful year in 2009 with almost 1000 runners and £50,000 donated to charities ranging from Comic Relief to small local charities. This year the route changed to include George Square and Bristo Square allowing runners the chance to run through the historic heart of the University of Edinburgh |
| 2008 |
The Meadows Marathon grew considerably in 2008 with over £30,000 donated to both Comic Relief and local charities. The 5Km was introduced and 850 runners of all abilities gathered at the starting line. In 2008 hundreds of runners from the local community and competitive clubs joined the student participants. |
| 2007 |
The Meadows Marathon was the brainchild of Paul Hewett and Alex Robertson, Mathematics students at the University of Edinburgh. The event was first run that March with 250 runners mostly from the University. £10,000 was donated to Comic Relief, one of the largest amounts they had ever received from a student organised event. The event was such a success the Meadows Marathon vowed to return the following year with Alex at the helm. |

Here at the Meadows Marathon we believe in a set of core values:
- The Meadows Marathon is organised 100% by a voluntary committee made up of University students from Edinburgh institutions.
- The event should remain accessible for charities of all sizes, regardless of their income.
- Entrance fees should be kept at a minimum so that all members of the community can take part.
- Exercise should be fun. We believe in a fun filled festival atmosphere filled with music and performance
- The event should not cause damage to the Meadows Park
