Meningitis Research Foundation's vision is a world free from meningitis & septicaemia. The charity fights death and disability by funding vital scientific research into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia, raising awareness of the diseases and offering support through in-depth information and befriending. Every year in the UK we still see over 3000 cases of meningitis and septicaemia. These can kill and maim in hours. Pressure on our fundraising efforts is always great as our work continues with urgency.

Although cases of Group C meningococcal disease have declined in the UK and Ireland since the men C vaccine was introduced, cases of Group B disease remain unchecked, and research to find an effective vaccine is vital.

We have places available for individuals and teams and would love to see you run for us to help make our vision come true.

Scottish Love in Action (SLA) is a charity based in Scotland that cares for and supports destitute children in India. We meet our aims by funding two Homes-cum-Schools in Hyderabad and Tuni, in Andhra Pradesh, South East India.

Many of our children are Dalit, or Untouchable, lower than the lowest in the caste system, thus facing constant discrimination in Indian society, and being denied basic human rights of healthcare and education.

By running with us you will help us to feed, clothe, house, educate and provide medical care for our 500 children, breaking down the negative effects of caste on their lives bringing them dignity, self-respect and love.

In 2010, it is difficult to believe that older people in Scotland still face issues such as poverty, isolation, loneliness, discrimination and abuse - our vision is of a Scotland and a world where older people flourish as valued and equal citizens.

We campaign, provide information and work in the local community with older people and older people's groups. Through listening to their needs our charity aims to give older people a voice and help them enjoy a better later life.

Older people bring an unquantifiable wealth of experience and wisdom to our families and communities. By running for us the money you raise can be used in all sorts of ways to give them the quality of life they deserve.
