To those who have run the Meadows Marathon in the past, you may notice that in recent years we've been forced to alter the course a little bit. This has lead to us having to make alterations, try them out, and fine tune them in future years. This year, we hope we've got a fantastic course for you, which will be of the correct distance.
For the Fun Run, you will run anticlockwise from Bristo Square, across the top of George Square, and then down Quartermile. Then, you will cut down the blue line (Jawbone Walk) and turn left at the bottom, continuing around the Meadows. There will be two laps of this.
For the Half and Full Marathon, the course will again be anticlockwise, but instead you will follow the red route entirely. The Half will be 7 laps, and the Full 14. As per usual, we have to have road closures lifted by 17.00pm, so we ask that you only enter the Full if you can run sub 4 and a half hours.
If you have any questions about this route, please email enquiries@meadowsmarathon.org.uk and we can try and answer them!
Each year, Meadows Marathon requires volunteers to help our event to reach its potential. We are looking for people who can help set up the course in the morning, marshall the course during the races, and help clear up afterwards. If you are unable to help out on the day, we will also be looking for volunteers to help out in the run up, doing jobs such as putting runner bags together and helping with all the other tasks that need to be done. In the past, runners have commented on how brilliant the volunteers have been, so if you want to be a part of a fantastic day, be able to look back and think "I did that", or just looking for something to put on your CV, we're interested in you. Email enquiries@meadowsmarathon.org.uk if you're interested!
Weather: The Edinburgh weather in March can be anything from burning sun to drifting snow, but as we all know it is most likely to be cool with the threat of light rain… Make sure you check the weather forecast before the day and prepare accordingly. We will keep you updated by email on any plans in the event of forecast bad weather. It is essential that you keep warm before and after the race so be sure to bring something to wrap up in. There will be a limited supply of foil blankets for those who want or need them, but in order to keep costs down to a minimum and get as much money as possible to the people who really need it we predominantly ask you to take it upon yourselves to make sure you are equipped and prepared for the event. Thanks!
