5K and 10K route

10k+5k Course

5K:
The starting and finishing points for all events is on Charles Street, here marked out in red. 5K runners run towards George Square turning right. Runners will then follow the red route along the cobbled road on the North side of George Square. Here, 5K runners will turn left following the green route down Quartermile onto the Meadows. At the bottom of Quartermile runners turn right and follow the green circuit anti-clockwise round the Meadows back to Quartermile. Runners will then turn right back onto the Quartermile and run to the top of Quartermile, following the green route that merges into the blue route. Runners will follow the blue line to a clearly marked turning point and then run back down the Quatermile following the blue which merges back into the green route down towards the Meadows. Runners will then turn right and follow the green route anti-clockwise around the Meadows once more, turning right back up Quatermile. Here, runners will re-join the red route, turning right back into George Square, and following the route to the finish line. In summary, runners do two full anti-clockwise circuits of the Meadows section of the course, going up to the top of Quartermile between circuits and only entering George Square to start and end the race.

10K:
Start in Charles St (marked in red) and run towards George Square, turning right. Runners follow the red route along the cobbled road on the North side of George Square. Here, runners turn left down Quartermile (the green route) and right at the bottom of Q-mile onto the Meadows. Runners complete an anti-clockwise circuit of the Meadows, following the green line back to Q-mile. Runners will then turn right back up Quartermile, heading straight and following the green route that merges into the blue route. Runners will follow the blue line to a clearly marked turning point and then run back down the Quatermile following the blue which merges back into the green route down towards the Meadows, and then turn right for another antic-cloackwise circuit. The blue route is travalled three times - before the second, third and fourth anti-clockwise circuit of the Meadows. Runners should only run all the way to the top of Quartermile three times in the race. After the last anti-clockwise circuit of the Meadows runners DO NOT run to the top of Quartermile, but instead turn right onto the red section, back onto the North side of George Square and back along the cobbled road, turning left to the finish line.
