READ Book Project Edinburgh is a student-volunteer-led project collecting disused books from schools across the UK. We sort them, match them to the Ugandan syllabus and, if relevant, we send them to East Africa. Any book not relevant to send (we don't take religious/political books for example) is sold online to generate much needed funding. We also deliver free workshops to educate school children about global citizenship and sustainability.
It costs £11 to buy a textbook out in Uganda, but only 50p for us to send one out there.
Help us to achieve long-term, sustainable development in East Africa.
SKIP Edinburgh is a branch of a student-led charity, supporting an orphanage in Moldova, Eastern Europe, for boys with a range of physical and mental disabilities. Our aim is for the children to receive the care, attention and sensory stimulation they often do not get due to lack of staff.
Mary's Meals Edinburgh University is a new society set up to raise funds for the Scottish charity Mary's Meals. Mary's Meals began in 2002 in Malawi, and now feed over 391,000 children in schools in 15 countries around the world, for an average of £9 per year, per child. A daily meal attracts children into the classroom and helps them learn, with the hope that by gaining an education these children can start to form an escape route out of poverty. br>
Mary's Meals have been in Haiti since 2006 and are currently working with partners in Cite Soleil and Hinche to help earthquake victims.
UNICEF on Campus works to fundraise for UNICEF's important development projects alongside raising awareness among the student community about issues affecting the world's children today. br>

Sports Relief is a UK-wide fundraising event organised by Sports Relief every two years.
By fundraising for Sports Relief, you're helping to change lives forever. That's because Sports Relief spends all the money raised to give extremely vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around.
