Health in Mind

I’m Karen, the Community Fundraiser with Health in Mind.

Health in Mind is a Scottish charity with your mental health at heart. We’ve been promoting positive mental health and wellbeing since 1982 by working with people to support them to live the life they want to live. We strive for people to live in supportive and resilient communities where mental health is understood and people lead fulfilling lives.

We deliver a unique mixture of mental health and wellbeing services and activities which includes one-to-one and group community-based supports, talking therapies, information services and trauma supports.

Health in Mind supports some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in society with our services designed to reach people where they need us most. Most of our services are based in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders with some services operating nationally.

We are over the moon to be working with the Meadows Marathon again this year, the event raises money for such worthy causes and the event itself links well with the ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’; (to connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and giving). Physical activity is also linked to good mental health with a lot of people choosing to run as part of their recovery journey.

It‘s a real joy to collaborate with the Meadows Marathon as we know the impact the event has each year. From charitable giving to sharing similar visions in working together to positively impact people’s mental health and wellbeing through being active and connecting the community.

We love working with students, their energy and passion in highlighting the importance of mental health support really matters, as well as the openness around their own mental health which is helping us reduce the stigma in talking about it.

We also love Meadows Marathon’s enthusiasm in spreading the word about Health in Mind and how we can support people. We also love to do the same and share any news about the upcoming Marathon to our followers and people accessing our services 😊.

I am really excited to come along on the day of the Meadows Marathon to cheer on the runners, and spread awareness of the amazing work Health in Mind does.

People need our support more than ever before as a result of the pandemic.

Although fundraising is that bit more challenging with Covid restrictions, we provide our supporters with new ways to fundraise in their own time; from mindful walks in their area to hosting a Blue Cake

Day from the comfort and safety of their own home - we are full of ideas to safely continue our fundraising activities.

It’s an extra special year for us as it’s our 40th birthday! We are hosting a month of celebration in July with additional fundraising activity taking place throughout the year!
